GPSANT:
GPS Antenna/Converter Unit

Translates the signal of the GPS system to an intermediate frequency

Key Features:

  • Antenna connected with up to 300m of standard coaxial cable RG58
  • Holder for Wall Mounting
  • Preformed Cable

GPS reception can only be reliable if the antenna has a free view of the sky!

The GPS antenna combines a planar antenna and a frequency converter, which translates the high-frequency phase-modulated spread spectrum signal of the GPS system to an intermediate frequency.

A standard coaxial cable (e.g. RG58) can be used for the connection with the GPS clock and a distance of up to 300 meters (with RG58) or even 600 meters (with a low-loss cable type like RG213) between receiver and antenna is possible without requiring an additional amplifier.

The maximum lenght of cable between antenna and receiver depends on the attenuation factor of the used coaxial cable.

Example:

Type of cable diameter Ø [mm] Attenuation at 100MHz [dB]/100m max. lenght [m]
RG58/CU 5mm 17 300 1
RG213 10.5mm 7 700 1
1) This specifications are made for antenna/converter units produced after January, 2005

The values are typically ones; the exact ones are to find out from the data sheet of the used cable.
