The Meinberg GPS170PCI slot card is the professional solution to your standalone computer synchronization requirements. This PCI slot card is the best choice to add a highly accurate time base to your servers or workstations. It can serve as a stratum 0 reference time source for NTP, and transforms any machine into a Stratum 1 NTP server without consuming additional physical space in your server room. The GPS170PCI outputs IRIG B, serial time strings, or 1PPS which can be used to synchronize other devices. A powerful but simple API enables you to integrate a highly accurate time base in your own applications, and the two independent capture inputs permit hardware timestamping of external events.

The GPS170PCI plug-in board is a satellite-controlled clock for computers with 3.3V or 5V PCI bus with clock frequencies of 33MHz or 66 MHz. The rear cover plate holds the antenna connector, timecode output connector, two status LEDs, and a 9-pin SUB-D male connector. Monitor software is included which can be used to check the clock’s status and configure several operational parameters.

The GPS170PCI synchronizes the system time of computers with a PCI/PCI-X bus, and provides an Application Programming Interface (API) which allows you to read the time with great accuracy and precision from within your own application. The Meinberg API provides simple and portable access to all Meinberg bus level timing devices, including our ISA, PCI, PCI-X, PCI Express and USB time synchronization products.

Legacy interfaces such as IRIG, 1PPS or serial time strings can be used to connect other equipment to the PCI slot card and transfer the time base over dedicated lines to systems which cannot be synchronized via NTP or other network protocols.

GPS Signal Distributor

The antenna/downconverter unit is connected to the receiver by standard RG58 coaxial cable, and can be placed up to 300m (1000’) from the card. Power is supplied to the antenna by the card. We recommend the use of the optional lightning arrestor (surge protector). An antenna diplexer is also available to allow the operation of up to four Meinberg GPS receivers using a single antenna/downconverter unit.
