Fibre Optic Converters and Diplexers: Signal Distribution with long Cable Runs

The MEINBERG fibre optic converters convert an electrical input signal into one or more optical output signals or an FO input signal into one or more electrical output signals. Our converters are ideal for distributing signals such as IRIG (AM / DCLS), PPS or RS-232/RS-422 over long distances.
Multimode converter
Our multimode fibre optic converters have been developed for the distribution of electrical signals over distances of up to 2,000 m. The optical ST connectors are connected via a GI50/125 µm or GI62.5/125 µm multimode fibre (wavelength: 850 nm). The optical output power is typically 20 µW per output, the optical input has a sensitivity of at least 3 µW. The electrical inputs and outputs are led out via BNC sockets or D-Sub9 connectors.
With the digital modules, the output signal can be inverted in relation to the input signal.
Singlemode converter
If distances of more than 2,000 metres have to be bridged, multimode converters are unsuitable. The following fibre optic converters for singlemode were developed for distributing electrical signals over distances of up to 10 kilometres. The optical ST connectors are connected via an E9/125 µm single-mode fibre (wavelength: 1310 nm). The optical output power is typically 15µW (-18 bBm) per output, the optical input has a sensitivity of -30 dBm. The electrical inputs and outputs are led out via BNC sockets or D-Sub9 connectors.
The output signal of these modules can also be inverted relative to the input signal if required.
DC Power Supply
Our converters require a supply voltage of 20 - 60 V DC, which can be made available to the device via a plug-in power supply unit (100 - 240 V ACIN; 24 V DCOUT) included in the scope of delivery. All converter variants are equipped with a fixing clip for 35 mm DIN rail mounting.
