SDU: Signal Distributor for PPS, 10 MHz or IRIG Time Code

Simply expanding existing devices with additional outputs is no problem with the Meinberg SDU. The SDU base chassis in combination with one or optionally two distribution modules can distribute TTL-level signals (1PPS, IRIG DCLS or 10 MHz), optical fibre optic signals and/or modulated IRIG time codes (IRIG AM).

Each distribution module has one input and 12 or 24 outputs as well as an alarm relay for signalling alarm statuses. The SDU chassis can be installed in 19-inch racks and is available with different power supply variants.

The alarm relay output and the status LEDs on the front panel indicate whether the input signal is present and whether an internal fault has been detected that may affect the output signals.

The following distribution modules are available and can be combined with each other as required:

TTL
The TTL module can distribute TTL signals such as 1PPS, 10 MHz or unmodulated time codes (IRIG-DCLS). One PPS output thus becomes 12x or 24x TTL outputs.

TCM
The TCM module enables 12x or 24x multiplication of modulated IRIG (IRIG AM). The integrated amplification makes it possible to cascade several modules and SDUs.

FO
The FO module distributes an optical fibre optic signal such as PPS, 10 MHz or IRIG DCLS to 12x or 24x fibre optic outputs. Optionally, the module can also be equipped with a TTL input instead of a fibre optic input.
